This is a fun and easy recipe the whole family can enjoy! A message from our Chef: Hello, I’m Sabdi Almaguer and I love to cook! I have always had a passion for cooking which only grew stronger after I got married. I definitely believe that cooking starts from the heart & I love to share my dishes with friends and family. I was often asked about my recipes by other young women and I’ve always been happy to share. During the pandemic, I finally started to record myself and share. I was so happy I could provide simple and delicious recipes everyone could enjoy. Most importantly, I was sharing recipes of traditional Latin dishes with exact measurements. 120k supporters later, I continue to do what I love!

Chicken Empanadas
INGREDIENTS FOR EMPANADAS 2 Cups Maseca (use Maseca Brand masa for best results) 1/2 tsp Salt 3.5 cups warm water 1/2 lb shredded chicken (please have chicken boiled and shredded before the event) Shredded Monterey jack cheese 1 onion 2 tomato 1 jalapeno (optional) 1/2 tbsp chicken bouillon Salt Pepper 2 cups canola or corn oil OPTIONAL TOPPINGS: Lettuce Tomato Shredded Cheese Table cream Avocado RECIPE: For chicken: (please have chicken boiled and shredded before the event) Add oil to hot pot. Saute onion, tomato & jalapeño. Once the onion changes color, add shredded chicken with 1⁄2 cup of water & chicken bouillon. Let simmer. FOR MASA: Add maseca & salt, mix. Slowly add warm water & knead dough until it forms a wet clay consistency. Form dough into small ball-like pieces depending on desired empanada size. Flatten dough in a tortilla press or between two plates. About 1/4 inch thick. Fill with chicken & cheese. Fold empanada and seal the edges. Add into hot oil and fry about 4min on each side or until golden brown. Remove from heat. Add toppings and enjoy!
