Alicia and Elianna family food coaches! We are on a mission to help families make healthy habits come to life in tangible and sustainable ways, teaching families to cook nutritious meals and build lifelong healthy relationships with food.

ALICIA FARIS
Alicia is a culinary educator, holistic nutritionist and local and sustainable food advocate. In 2014, Alicia began working directly with Bay Area youth; exploring farmers markets and creative cooking via CUESA’s Foodwise Kids program. As Nutrition Education Coordinator for Bay Leaf Kitchen, Alicia co-created a progressive culinary curriculum that enriched the lives of hundreds of Bay Area families. She serves as a teen mentor and associate chef at Ceres Community Project, guiding teens in the preparation of nourishing organic meals for low-income communities struggling with serious health challenges. In addition, Alicia was a valued team member at critically acclaimed restaurants Cotogna and State Bird Provisions for nearly a decade. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to education, Alicia favors a patient and observant path, inviting the learning process to be made fun, creative, and unique.

ELIANNA FRIEDMAN
Elianna Friedman is a family food coach and nonprofit consultant. She founded Bay Leaf Kitchen, a nonprofit cooking camp that connected youth from San Francisco's low-income neighborhoods with local farms so that they could learn from experts about the food they eat. As the founder, she grew the organization from an idea to a community-driven organization that helped to prevent childhood obesity for 140 families annually.
