In Thailand, vermicelli (khanom-jeen) is considered its own category of dishes similar to that of noodle soups. They can come topped with a variety of curries and broths depending on region and preference. Khanom-jeen dishes are rarely offered at Thai restaurants in the US. This is your chance to try these authentic dishes from my childhood.
The meal includes vermicelli with two types of curries influenced by the central region of Thailand.

Khanom-Jeen Kang Kiew Nok (Green Curry with Quail)

Rustic-style green curry. Quail, traditional Thai apple eggplant and pork blood "tofu". Served with a side of julienned bamboo shoots.
Khanom-Jeen Nam Yaa (Fish Curry with Fishballs)
Entree
Herbaceous fish curry thickened with fish meat and a touch of coconut milk. Homemade fish balls stuffed with quail egg. Served with fixings of fresh shredded cabbage, pickled mustard greens and long beans.
Tub Tim Krob (Crispy Rubies)
Dessert
Crispy water chestnut coated wth chewy tapioca in pandan-infused coconut broth. Topped with crushed ice.
