Banquet (20+ Guests)
From my family to yours, we invite you to experience the authentic flavors of our beautiful island. Puerto Rico benefits from having incredible culinary history and influences, with tropical and criollo flavors to delight and inspire. As the owner of El Coquí at the Portland Mercado, I’m on a mission to share the real Puerto Rico with my Portland neighbors. With “Wepa Boricua”, we’re reinterpreting the criollo, provincial flavors of my childhood into a fine dining experience.

Menu detail

An Island Cocktail Welcome
Guests receive one complementary mojito or “Puerto Rico Libre” to start out the night.
Sancocho (Caribbean Beef Stew)
Small Plate
Our take on a household classic stew. Loaded with slow roasted beef, plantains, root veggies, finished with a vibrant culantro. Served with a side of herbed garlic bread.
Lechon Asao
A generous serving of succulent, slow roasted lechon (pork) topped a with culantro chimichurri, criollo culantro red beans, rice, and crispy fried tostones (plantains). We’ll have to-go boxes just in case you want to take some home.
Coconut Tres Leches con Cafe
Back by popular demand, this moist white cake is soaked in fresh coconut and condensed milk. Layered with coconut frosting and dusted with canela. A cup of robust Puerto Rican coffee rounds out the course.
