Few things are as transformative and existentially fulfilling as music, and cuisine. We're bringing these two powerful art forms together for an evening of beautiful music and delicious cuisine. Chef Becky Reams, of Bang Bang, will be pairing 5 courses with 5 pieces of music. Salastina Music Society will be performing the music LIVE, preceding each course. Salastina's directors and Chef Becky have decided on a theme for the evening, which will tie the food and the music together, that theme is: "Beautifully California." From California composers, to California native produce, the parallels in the music and cuisine will all be aptly centered around our home state. What better way to showcase how wonderful this place is, and how much it has to offer? We will also be offering red or white wine, and tea and coffee. A bit about the music: Salastina Music Society (salastina.org) enriches hearts and minds through world-class and educational chamber music. Since its founding in 2010, Salastina has earned a national reputation for connecting audiences to classical music. Audiences respond to Salastina’s warmth, immediacy, keen musical insight, and sense of social responsibility. Salastina was founded by violinists Kevin Kumar and Maia Jasper White, who continue to direct the series. Over two dozen Salastina performances have been broadcast to millions nationwide on Performance Today. Directors, Kevin and Maia believe strongly in the idea of making classical music approachable and readily understandable to all. They love to talk about the piece of music, its inspirations, feelings, origins, and even notes on their relationship to the piece. After each piece is performed, Chef Becky will present a course, which has been carefully paired with that piece of music. She will also take a moment to explain her influences and inspirations in creating the dish specifically to follow the corresponding song. Our hope is an enlightening evening where you as the guest can feel immersed in the beauty of the music and food in this artful fusion of our interpretations of California.
