In honor of my Indonesian mother who taught me how to cook and raised me in her kitchen, I'm making some of her favorite dishes tonight. I would love to share this meal with you in an intimate setting, family style, just like my home back in Jakarta. BYOB. Shared plates. Dishes contain peanut, spicy chili peppers, meat products, and shrimp paste.

Steam Manila clams with 3 dipping sauces: ground peanut, sambal, and ground pineapple. A seafood dish popular in Medan, Sumatra.

Prawns with blanch water spinach (kangkung) served in sambal which is an Indonesian hot sauce made out of shrimp paste, palm sugar, tomatoes, garlic, and shallots.
Balinese Roast Pork

Juicy roast pork in Balinese spices (turmeric, galangal, lemongrass, many more) comes with a side of pork soup and braised collard greens (substitute for cassava leaves, which what we use in Indonesia).
Rice & Mie Goreng
