Pakistan is known for its street food, and in this class, I'm going to be teaching some of my favorite recipes I grew up eating. We'll make deep-fried Samosas filled with potatoes and peas, sweet and sour Chana Chaat (chickpea and potato salad), and crispy Pakora—all topped with a sweet and spicy green tamarind chutney.
Menu detail
Aloo (Potato) Samosas
Appetizer
Pastry stuffed with a mixture of boiled, mashed, spicy, and sour potatoes and peas. These deep-fried parcels have been my go-to snack since childhood.
Chana Chaat (Chickpea and Potato Salad)
A combination of cooked chickpeas and potatoes soaked in a deliciously sweet, sour, and spicy tamarind chutney. Topped with crispy chips, cilantro, onions, tomatoes, and green chili!
Pakora and Chutney
Pakora - A crisp fried snack made with chickpea flour, spices, and a combination of vegetables to make a combo platter.
Green Tamarind Chutney- A sweet, spicy, and sour chutney to go with the pakora, samosas, and chana chaat.
