Vegetarian flavors of Pakistan
In a completely hands-on class ( you can just watch & ask questions if you prefer) we will be cooking my favorite vegetarian recipes and puffing up some phulka!
An unleavened flatbread made with whole wheat "Atta" flour. Roti, also known as phulka or chapati is a traditional bread and is part of everyday Pakistani meals. Traditionally they are cooked on a gas stove to give the final puff on a live flame. I am excited to share this simple yet "addictive" recipe and technique!
Dhaba daal ( Roadside style lentils)
This dhaba style daal is a dish I grew up eating at my favorite dhabas with piping hot roti and naan. It gets its flavors from aromatic spices, with a finale of a sizzling tadka (tempering) and a handful of chopped cilantro.
Aloo tikki ( potato cutlets)
Mashed potatoes, onions, herbs, and spices combined together create this simple and absolutely delicious aloo tikki.
Spicy green chili chutney
No meal is ever complete without a chutney on the side. We will make a green chili chutney to complete the menu.
