This meal is a lot of really comforting Japanese dishes, that I can't do at the normal plated dinners. Several of these dishes are best right when they are made, and I'll be making them all throughout the dinner. Expect a smorgasbord of soulful Japanese comfort food, followed by an elegant dessert.

We'll serve daikon pickles with pirikara (spicy cucumbers), and soy pickled wakame.
Kabocha squash croquettes
Appetizer
Delicious creamy kabocha squash croquettes, fried to perfection and served with a warm soy and ginger sauce.
Yuri’s Baked Burrata-Stuffed Inari
Small Plate
Yuri makes fantastic inari, which is often rice filled tofu pockets, but we’re going to mix it up, fill them with our house made burrata, scallions, and a little chile, and bake them to perfection!
The Vegan 'Oyakadon'
Entree
'Oyakadon' is a wonderfully comforting Japanese dish that unfortunately uses chicken, and eggs. The name literally translates to 'mother and daughter.'
In spite of the morbid reference, it is a fantastic dish, which can be veganized with all the soul of the original, and served over rice.
We'll use confit trumpet mushrooms and grilled oyster mushrooms in place of chicken, and our signature vegan egg recipe with a vegan dashi will bind it all together.
A classic Japanese comfort dish.
Soymilk Panna Cotta with Plums and Basil
Dessert
A vanilla enriched soymilk panna cotta topped with plums and basil.
