In 2011 I spent a month in Thailand traveling, eating, and learning to cook! I learned at the Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School, and then spent a week cooking at the Khun Lek streetfood kitchen in Bangkok. I'll be teaching you how to prepare 3 classic Thai dishes, while introducing some perhaps unfamiliar ingredients. We'll hone our knife skills, and prepare a 3 course feast for us to eat! You'll bring home some homemade green curry paste, and will get a nice recipe book of everything we made.

Som Tam; Green Papaya Salad
The classic green papaya salad with long beans, thai chiles, cherry tomatoes, peanuts, and lime.
Green Curry with Oyster Mushrooms and Bell Pepper

We'll make a green curry paste from scratch using lemongrass, galangal, Thai lime leaves, Thai chiles, fresh cilantro, and several other ingredients, then use it to make a bright green coconut curry with oyster mushrooms, red peppers, and basil. We'll also prepare jasmine rice for our curry. The curry paste freezes very well, and you'll be able to take some home for making your own curries!
Pad Thai with Fried Tofu, Peanuts, and Lime
You'll be making a tamarind and soy based sauce for making classic pad Thai. We'll prepare it with rice noodles, fried tofu, a vegan egg scramble, bean sprouts, scallions, peanuts, and lime. You'll learn the trick to a good vegan egg scramble, and can refine your technique with cooking in a wok. The sauce keeps very well, making it easy to pull out of the fridge, and make a vegan Pad Thai in a quarter of the time it would take Grub Hub to deliver to your door!
