I most recently oversaw two highly praised restaurants in San Francisco, Mamacita and Padrecito. Was able to achieve two three star reviews and a Top 100 award five years in a row from the San Francisco Chronicle. Michelin Guide also awarded Mamacita with six Bib Gourmand awards. With over 14 years of experience I worked in some of the most demanding kitchens in the bay area. After having visited Portland for a few years I made the move to the Northwest to continue my passion for Mexican cuisine. Chelo is named for and pays homage to my grandmother whom I continue to draw inspiration from and was pivotal in guiding me not only in life but also with my culinary aspirations.
