Chef Mason Hereford opened Turkey and the Wolf in the Irish Channel in July 2016. Hereford was chef de cuisine at Coquette and worked at some renowned restaurants around the country before returning to New Orleans to open the sandwich shop. He takes a refined approach to casual fare in decor highlighted by retro and kitschy accents. The sandwich shop was included in Food & Wine magazine's 2017 list of the 10 best new restaurants in the country.
