One of my favorite food memories growing up were the meals I ate at my friends house when his mother cooked. She was from a family of Iraqi Jews that immigrated to Singapore. Dinners were an exotic and beautiful blend of traditional Jewish foods like challah, hummus and brisket mixed with things like chicken curry and homemade sambal chili. The tastes and smells are something I will never forget and I would love to recreate them for you.
