Born and raised outside of Washington D.C., Pat O’Malley began his culinary career at age 17 and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. After graduating with honors, he moved on to esteemed kitchen jobs, first at the landmark Susanna Foo’s, and then ¡Pasion!, where he first worked alongside his now-business partner, Chef Scott Schroeder. Pat moved to New York in 2006 to helm pastry programs for Morimoto and then Balthazar Bakery, where he served as their Pastry Chef for eight years. Pat later returned home to Philadelphia and opened Queen Village’s all-day restaurant and café, Hungry Pigeon, in 2016, alongside his former colleague and good friend, Schroeder. As Hungry Pigeon’s Executive Pastry Chef and Partner, Pat develops pastry and bread programs that champion seasonality using locally and responsibly sourced ingredients. Today, Pat can still be found in the kitchen working dough and introducing fresh pastries to Hungry Pigeon’s counter daily. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Ariel, and little dog, Nigel.
