Hands on class, preparing several Thai dishes with a few others in a very friendly kitchen, using the finest ingredients possible. We will be mashing up pastes in mortar and pestle, deep frying, stir frying, steaming, simmering and more. Afterwards we sit down and enjoy an awesome lunch from what we prepare. Leftovers to take home!

Basil Eggplant

Stir fried eggplant with red peppers, leeks and a lot of basil. A wonderful summer dish.
Corn Fritters with cucumber peanut dressing

A favorite from my kitchen, every summer and fall and a big hit from my first cookbook, "Notes from an Underground Restaurant". Corn is combined with silken tofu, rice flour, lemongrass and spices, deep fried to a crisp and served with a sweet, tangy peanut-cucumber dressing. Everyone loves this dish!
Green Mango Salad

A very refreshing dish, great for hot summer afternoons. Spicy and sour flavors abound as unripe mangos are grated with a lot of flavors added!
Sweet and Sour Tempeh
Fresh tempeh is my favorite protein source. And i always get tempeh from my friends, Rhizocali Tempeh, also located in West Oakland; 2 awesome women, producing incredibly high quality organic tempeh, right here, for all of us to enjoy in the bay area! This dish has fried tempeh combined with pineapple, red peppers, leeks in a delightfully tart, fruity sauce. Pass the rice!

speaking of rice.... A beautiful dish on the table as rice is fried with wood ear mushrooms, peas and carrots and served in the pineapple shell.
