After working in noted kitchens throughout Portland and in Northern California, chef Pietro made the transition from chef to full-time viticulturist and winemaker with his own wine label called Prima Materia. He continues to cook however, and with a strong interest in food history he has created unique educational food and wine events such as dinners based on Homer’s Odyssey and Ancient Roman menus at his Prima Materia tasting room in Oakland,Ca. He also teaches wine education classes throughout Northern California with a strong focus on food and bringing wine-tasting techniques to the culinary world.
