Since 2011, La Arepa has been the spot for Venezuelan cuisine and culture in Portland. Business is a family affair: partners Antonio Gutierrez and Elsy Rodriguez operate two locations and are expanding the fledgling empire to a line of authentic sauces and dressings. Bululú is the Venezuelan expression of the sound a large crowd makes. With a menu of pabellon criollo, delectable quesillo and of course their namesake arepas this dinner will sure to make some noise.

Menu detail

Arepas Con Betebel, Cilantro y Batata
Small Plate
Venezuelan arepas with a unique twist: fresh beetroot, sweet potato and cilantro are ground into the cornmeal dough. Served with an assortment of delicious sauces: salsa guasacaca, salsa habanero, crema vegetal and garlicky aioli
Pabellón Criollo (Vegetarian Option Available)
Entree
A traditional Venezuelan platter of meat and sides meant to represent the country's vast cultural diversity. Slow cooked shredded beef is served with stewed black beans, white rice, avocado, ripe plantain and a fried egg. The vegetarian option pairs La Arepa's "salad supreme" of dressed shredded cabbage in a tangy vinaigrette in place of the shredded beef.
Quesillo
Dessert
A dreamy flan-like dessert of egg, leche condesa, vanilla and caramel topped with fresh pineapple.
Guarapita Cocktail (Available for purchase)
Beverage
A dreamy concoction of passionfruit and pineapple juices with Venezuelan rum. Non-alcoholic pairing available.
