Chef Anthony Banegas serves authentic Puerto Rican cuisine at El Coqui at the Portland Mercado. Think grilled pinchos, empanadillas and of course mofongo. El Coqui is named for the eponymous chirping frog found across Puerto Rico. "El Canto del Coqui", (The Song of the Coqui) is Anthony's love ballad to his island home. Sample the dishes Tony grew up with, from an assortment of street snacks to indulgent tres leches cake. His food will sure to make some noise in Portland's food scene.
