In 2011 Rawaa Kasedah and her husband Mohammed Rawas decided to leave Damascus, Syria for a couple months in hopes of the violence dying down. It was too risky to keep going; Mohammed could not open his clothing factory and schools were only open every ten days due to the intermittent attacks. The family crossed the border into Jordan, but what was supposed to be a three-month sojourn turned into an almost three year-long resettlement.
