Apple Pie Macarons

Cinnamon Macarons with a caramel frosting and apple pie centre

Ingredients

Apple Pie Mixture

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt

Frosting

  • Frosting
  • 500g (2 cups) unsalted butter, softened
  • 500g (4 cups) icing (confectioners’) sugar
  • 2–4 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • ½ cup salted caramel sauce

Apple Pie Macarons

  • 100g egg whites (approx. 3 egg whites) room temperature
  • 140g (1 ½ cups) almond meal
  • 90g (½ cup) granulated sugar
  • 130g (1 cup) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp white vinegar

Steps

  1. Peel your apple and core the centre out. Cut it into small cubes and set aside.
  2. Add the brown sugar and butter into a small saucepan on medium heat.
