Braised Short Ribs & Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

Braised Short Ribs

  • 6 bone-in short ribs (about 3 packages or 5 3/4 pounds)
  • Kosher salt
  • 3 Tbs Great Value Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 box (8 oz) Freshness Guaranteed Diced Yellow Onions, or 1 yellow onion cut into ½ inch pieces.
  • 2 ribs Marketside Organic Celery Stalk, cut into ½ inch pieces
  • 2 Marketside Organic Carrots, peeled, cut in 1/2 lengthwise, then cut into ½ inch pieces
  • 3 oz. dried mushrooms of your choice, optional*
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed and peeled
  • 1 1/2 cups Great Value Tomato Paste
  • 2 to 3 cups hearty red wine
  • 2 cups Great Value Organic Beef Broth
  • 1 bunch fresh thyme, tied with kitchen string
  • 2 Organic Great Value Bay Leaves

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2lbs Marketside Organic Gold Potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes*
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed*
  • 4 Tbs Great Value Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 cup Great Value Whole Milk
  • 1/4 cup Great Value Heavy Whipping Cream

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Heat a 6-10 qt Dutch oven over medium high heat on the stove top.
