Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Crumb Cake

From the "more is more" files we present this cake and cookie monster!

Ingredients

Milk Cake:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the chocolate chip frosting:

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

Chocolate chip cookie crumb:

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips, for topping

Chocolate cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened at room temperature
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sour cream, room temperature

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and line a 9-inch cake pan with baking spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter and add milk and vanilla. Bring to a near boil and then reduce to a simmer.
