Deep Fried Lasagna Pockets

Think of these as adult Hot Pockets, i.e. the best idea ever!

Ingredients

  • 2 boxes lasagna noodles, no-boil and flat
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 bunch fresh basil
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 eggs, beaten

Steps

  1. In a medium sauté pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add the beef and season with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning.
  2. When the beef/sausage is fully cooked, and broken up into small pieces, add the tomato paste. Sauté until combined. Set aside.
