Meatballs in Tomato-Cheese Sauce
These saucy meatballs are topped with cheese, then baked for extra ooey, gooey goodness.
Ingredients
Meatballs
- 14 ounces ground beef
- 1/2 tablespoon oregano
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 2 sage leaves
- 1/4 tablespoon nutmeg, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 egg
- 1/2 old roll, crumbled
- 1 cup grated Parmesan
- Salt & pepper
Tomato-Cheese Sauce
- Olive oil
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 4 thyme sprigs
- 7 basil leaves
- 1 can chopped tomatoes
- 2/3 cup tomato sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic, pressed
- 3/4 cup grated mozzarella
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the meatballs.
