This popular Japanese street food is good whether you're looking for something sweet or savory.


  • 6 1/2 tablespoons takoyaki flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 egg
  • 0.7 ounces mentaiko (pollock roe)
  • 6 small squares cream cheese
  • Otafuku brand sauce, to taste


  1. In a small bowl, combine flour water and egg.
  2. Pour batter into a takoyaki grill plate. Add mentaiko and cream cheese to each ball. Let 1 side cook, then turn batter over and shape into spheres. Cook thoroughly.
