Drawing from his Burmese and Indian heritage, Saw Naing, of Tallula's in Santa Monica, relies on childhood memories of sourcing the freshest produce and cooking with his grandmother in his hometown of Rangoon to create food that touches the heart and speaks to that child in all of us. Having a solid understanding of bold flavor layering enables Naing to seamlessly enter the world of Mexican cuisine. With the mentorship of Chef Jeremy Fox, Naing adapts the menu with each discovery of an indigenous Mexican ingredient or technique into an exciting iteration of what neighborhood Mexican food means in southern California.
