A native San Franciscan, he grew up grocery shopping in Chinatown with his grandmother. He spent ten months traveling in Northern Italy, where he staged at Ristorante la Pernice e la Gallina in Bologna. Looking to explore his Chinese cultural roots, he traveled to Shanghai to cook at the Museum of Modern Art for eight months. In the end, he found his greatest inspiration in his hometown of San Francisco. --- The Memorial Day Weekend "Chefstival" brings together over a dozen of the Bay Area's top chefs to host one-of-a-kind interactive cooking classes through ChefsFeed Experiences. Half of all ticket proceeds go directly to the host chefs and their staff, the other half goes to the nonprofit SF New Deal. SF New Deal is a nonprofit that partners with small businesses and community organizations to provide income for workers and meals for neighbors in need.
