- [Narrator] That day, I was having lunch with my friends at Sainte Croix Lake, next to Verdon Canyon. I had organized a picnic, but my friends were late, so I started to make our sandwiches. Some bagnat bread, a typical recipe from Nice. A round loaf, tuna, tomatoes, sweet pepper, celery, boiled egg, artichokes, anchovies black olives, and of course, olive oil to put at the very end so the bread won't be spongy. Mmm... tasty. Except my friends were really late. It's okay. I took a nap to wait for them. No way! My picnic was drifting in the canyon! I had to get it back, but I didn't want to get wet. Nevermind. We'll eat something else. No, I won't give up on my bagnat like that! Impossible! So I entered the Verdon. It is one of the largest and most beautiful canyons in Europe. 700 meters deep, rapids, narrow passages. Wow! I felt like an adventurer. Here it is, but others wanted my picnic. The fish! Out there they love bagnat bread. Ah ha! My basket floats. Aggghh! I was really getting hungry. But then I became a true adventurer. Almost. Yes! But I dropped everything. Only one solution left. I started to fight. Oh, it was frisky. But at least I had scared away the fish. And there my picnic could not escape. And my friends had arrived. Perfect. But before joining them, I deserved a reward. No way! The fish are stealing my kayak. Come back here! I will give you one bagnat bread for my kayak! Two! I have only three! You drive hard bargain! Come back!
