Made with Cajun seasoning and topped with avocado salsa, this salmon recipe is an easy weeknight meal that’s fresh and healthy.
Ingredients
For the Cajun Seasoning:
2 tsp. smoked paprika
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
For the Blackened Salmon:
1 tbsp. olive oil
2 6-oz. filets salmon
For the Avocado Salsa:
1 avocado, diced
1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
1/2 jalapeno, finely diced
1 tbsp. cilantro, chopped
1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 tsp. sea salt
Instructions
To make the cajun seasoning, combine the paprika, chili powder, cumin, sea salt, dried oregano, dried thyme, and garlic powder in a small mixing bowl.
Season the salmon liberally with the cajun seasoning.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the seasoned salmon to the hot pan, and cook until it becomes deeply golden brown and slightly blackened before flipping and repeating for the other side, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
To make the avocado salsa, combine the avocados, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and sea salt in a mixing bowl until combined. Set aside.
Top the salmon with the avocado salsa and serve.
