Stuffed Popover Bread

  • For the bread:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • Salt

  • Oil, for cooking

  • For the filling:

  • Roast beef

  • Potatoes

  • Crispy onions

  • Provolone cheese


  1. Make the batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour with some salt and pepper, then whisk in the eggs. Next, add in the milk to make a smooth batter.

  2. Preheat oven to 375 F.

  3. Brush a 10 by 6-inch baking tray with a little oil, then add the batter. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown, and cooked through. Remove from the oven, and set aside until cool enough to handle. Remove from the tray.

  4. To assemble: Pry the bread apart to create a pocket in the middle. Next, stuff with your filling. Return to the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

  5. Serve right away.
