- I'm Katie Quinn. I'm a video journalist, food enthusiast, and travel nut. I think there is a story to be told anywhere in the world. Are you ready? Let's see what happens. I might be having a real good time in Thailand. All right, in like 15 minutes I'm heading to the airport. Going for a walk with Connor in our lovely Brooklyn neighborhood. - About to hit a sunbeam. - We're about to hit a big sunbeam. Ready, ready, ready? And, ah! See all this snow? That's not gonna be where I'm about to go. - Whatever. - This is my travel haul for this whole trip. I'm in LA. The first six hours of my trip are done, from New York to LA. I think that's the first third of this trip, so doing pretty good. All right, let's keep going, guys. All right, it's the first full day in Australia. It's totally gorgeous outside. Lemme give you, actually, just a little peek from my room. This is what we're looking at. Yeah, you can see that that is the famous Sydney Opera House. So, basically, this view is totally bomb.com. So, first things first before we go to the harbor: breakfast. And guess where we get to go for breakfast? At Four Seasons this morning. Hey, hey, hey, Australia, here we come. We're going to the taco bar. Hi. - [Man] Hi, how are you? Good, how are you? Executive club. Ding! This is what it feels like to be a total baller. - [Electronic Voice] 32nd floor. - Yes. I'm really glad I brought my appetite. Check this out. Morning coffee, such a necessity. Also, check out this view. Views left and right here. This is really freaking good. Mm! - [James] That's it, welcome aboard. - Thank you! - [James] Talk about your experience. - Yes I am. Say hello. - Hi, I'm James. - Hi, James. So, do you sail a lot? - I sail a few times a week. - A few times a week? - Yeah! - I want your life. - [James] That's pretty good. - Pretty cool way to see Sydney itself from the water. Oh my gosh, this looks amazing. Mm. A little fresh pineapple just made this moment so much better. - [James] Just hang on a bit. - If you can't tell, I just really gracefully made it to the steering wheel. And now, I'm gonna try not to crash. Probably do need two hands to do this, actually. Excuse me, captain, captain. Do I turn around now? - [Captain] We can go a little bit further. - OK! Do you notice something missing from my head? Yeah. The hat has gonzo. The hat's somewhere out there. I freed the hat. Well, actually the wind freed the hat. While I was playing captain, the wind took my hat. - Catch ya later. - Thank you, James! - No trouble! Enjoy the rest of your adventure! - Basically, the best way that I could've spent this morning. Super beautiful. I'm so... I'm just happy, guys, I'm just happy. How can this day improve? Oh, by going up in a helicopter. Which, I've never been in a helicopter. Have you been in a helicopter? Well, you're about to come with me. Let's go get in a helicopter, OK! When you first go up in the helicopter, it's this feeling of weightlessness. I'm just like floating in the air. That's the kinda feeling it is. Then it was really just all about looking out the window and seeing this city from an entirely different viewpoint. Now I'm gonna get my helicopter's license. Just kidding! The pilot, he was an awesome dude, too. Everyone here is just very very friendly. - Just tell me, am I the best pilot you've ever flown with? - Hands down, the best helicopter pilot I've ever flown with. - Can I get a kiss? - All right, I've gotten my coffee. I've gotten my cookie. I couldn't help myself. Now I'm going to take a ferry to Manly, and I'm meeting up with my buddy Hayden Quinn. I'm super stoked to see my Aussie friend. Let's go! He's here! It's Hayden. - Hey, guys. - What's up, man? How are ya? - The Quinn's are reunited once again. - In Australia this time. - Let's do it. - It's much hotter here. - It's so beautiful here. - Did you like the ferry over? - So beautiful. - It's good, hey. I loved it. It's a very iconic thing to do, the Manly Ferry. - So iconic. - Just as iconic as eating and drinking, so let's do it. - So, Hayden took us to this spot called Four Pines. We have really good pale ales. And, what'd ya just get there, Hayden? - I got a little burger. - [Katie] Little burger? - Just 'cause I could. - [Katie] That looks pretty freaking delightful. - [Hayden] Oh yeah. - Uh, yeah. It's been such a great day, and I'm really excited to head to dinner now. What are dinner plans? Let's see. Check out where I'm having dinner tonight. In that boat. Da da! Let's go eat! Tonight is a Sydney dinner cruise, aboard the Blue Room. It's an 85-foot glass dining vessel, providing 360-degree views of Sydney Harbor. I think that I've seen the Sydney Opera House every possible angle since I've been here. ♪ You'll just fly ♪ ♪ So starry eyed ♪ - Wow, Sydney, Australia, has been amazing. I think it's safe to say that I'm a fan, yeah. Yeah, I'm a fan. All right, bye, guys. I'm in Chiang Rai now. This is my first time in Thailand. That's amazing. This is where we are. This is the river we're gonna go on to get to the hotel. And across the river is Laos. Thailand, river, Laos. Just got off the boat. Look what's right here. Look at that. This is so cool! These are my digs in Thailand. Not sure if you can tell, but, it's a tent. This is called, after all, the Four Seasons at Golden Triangle, the Tented Camps. And I didn't even know tents came in this kind of luxury. This is the bar. Of course, my room's near the bar. But look at this! Sunset. Oh my gosh. Right across this river is Burma. It's a little hop, skip, and a jump. Maybe the jungle of Thailand is a not a typical jog path, but I quite enjoyed it. All right. Let's go to the pool. The nice thing is that, can get a nice little swim in in the chilly pool. And then I'm just gonna pop over to this nice little hot tub over here. Headed to breakfast! I love this kinda food for breakfast, because, you know, in the States we would have something like this but for lunch or dinner. The warmth, it's the perfect way to wake up and start the day. We're riding in a long-tail boat, the Golden Triangle. That boat. Mekong River fun. Let's go. I kicked off the day with a Golden Triangle tour. I had this amazing tour guide named Rain, and he's awesome! I love his laugh. It's a very happy laugh. - We are in the middle of three countries. On your right is Laos; on your left is Burma; behind us is Thailand. - There's just like cool things. This is for the king and the queen of Thailand. Hey, there's a little doggie. Hey, little guy. Oh my gosh, this is the biggest Buddha I have ever seen in my life, and it is very golden. I don't even know if you can tell how large and in charge it is from this video. So, we just got to the local market. It's pop-out. I can't wait to see. Gosh, the smells hitting my nose right now are epic. Epic smells. Every kind of fish here, frogs, all kinds of meat. Check these out. Nori-seaweed-flavored chips. Waterbugs and chili paste. All right, I'm getting sticky rice that is actually put inside bamboo, and then cooked. I've heard it's super amazing. I can't wait to eat it! It's buggy time! Let's do this. This thing I've got to show you. It has a snake in it. I'm not sure what it is, aside from being filled with a snake. But let's try it? Isn't that what travel's all about, trying new things, expanding the mind, sipping some cobra liquid? Well, buddy, cheers. This is the most alcoholic-tasting beverage I've had up here so far. We're here. We made it to Bali. - [Rain] K, see you. - Bye, Rain. Thank you. Here we are. We made it. We made it to the resort. There's a fire in a pool. This is Bali, everyone. Let's go. Got a welcome setup. Hi! Hashtag, impressed, ladies and gentlemen. Look at how gorgeous this is! Wow. We're at my room. Let's check it. What? This is massive! Am I supposed to stay here all alone? What's going on? Whoa. OK, I gotta show this to you guys. Wow! And, in case I wanna shower outside. Sounds like fun. Just might do it. This is where they have yoga classes. My yoga studio in Brooklyn looks nothing like this. I'm walking on this kind of narrow little thing here, and as I talk to you I'm gonna fall off. Oh, wow. This is all rice paddies behind me. I feel like eight million miles away from New York right now; I wonder how many actual miles I am. Hi. Good morning. I started the day by rolling out of bed, and walking into the infinity pool next to my room. This has gotta be up there with best ways to start the day. All right, I'm excited for breakfast. Time to say goodbye to the pool. Breakfast this morning: noodle soup. I like Indonesia a lot. This could be a new favorite breakfast go-to, seriously. It's amazing. And a little watermelon juice to wash it down. Delight. Today is full of so much fun stuff. I'm checking out the temples in Bali today. One of the things that's way awesome about this experience is that the activities day to day are allowing me to experience the culture. When I travel, I want to have an authentic experience. Now we're getting into vintage Volkswagens. How cool do these look? What's your name? - My name is Danny. - [Katie] Hi, Danny! - Your name? I'm Katie. I am stunned by seeing something in person that I've seen in photos so many times, and I didn't think it could be more gorgeous but it actually is. I feel like at peace, and I can breathe. We've had a full day, a full day of many activities, but then an exciting end to the day. Now I'm at the beach. The other Four Seasons Resort in Bali with a whole new room! Seriously, look at this. I'm so excited to wake up in Bali again. I'm going to a cooking class first thing in the morning. So I'm gonna grab my quick breakfast, and then scoot out for the cooking class. I always feel like I wanna get the breakfast of the area. I don't just wanna do the big American breakfast. I was looking at this Bugood Ayam. Do you like that? Balinese rice porridge. Shredded chicken in roasted coconut, wild ginger, lemongrass, and scallion. Oh yeah. Mm! It's kind of like a savory oatmeal. We are headed to the fish market now. This is Chef Chris. - Yes, good morning. I am Chef Chris. Today I have the very very VIP person. This is the biggest fish market we have in Bali. - Amazing. I'm so excited. - This is tuna. This is marlin. It's the mahi-mahi. You look very pressed, yeah? - Yeah. Chef Chris wanted me to see the Indonesia that he loves. He told me about a couple different kinds of food that are, how should I say, controversial. There's this bean, and then he's like: "Oh, that bean, people hate that bean. "It smells bad." Of course, I had to try the bean. - You want to smell? - I'm gonna smell it. - [Man] Good, good! - You bite it? - Do I need to bite it? - Yes. - [Man] Good! - Mm. You know what? It doesn't smell that bad. Well... All right. It's getting worse. - She do expression. You see? It does not work? Really, really? Also, then, then... - I thought I could handle it. There's a whole truck full of durian. Should I eat it? - Yes. It's good. - I mean, I like it. I like it better in a milkshake. Let's go cook! - Let's go! Look at the camera. Katie look profesionado. But not guarantee you pass the class for today. - I'll try my best. Chef Chris is a really fantastic person. He has a great sense of humor. He really knows what he's talking about. This is a cooking class that he does on a regular basis. It is Balinese home-style cooking. This is how you eat it. You put a little bit in your palm, and you just-- - Yeah. If you take from this to your mouth, impolite. - Mm. Hand to mouth. - Yeah. - All right. - Lift your hands up. - OK. Beautiful. - [Chris] Oh, that looks sexy, eh? - [Katie] Yeah, it's so sexy! - [Chris] Hot pan. Is this lemongrass? What is this? - [Katie] The duck. - Duck. What's the marination? - What was the marination? - [Chris] Yes. - It was chilis, garlic. Oh, tumeric? - Give me five. - Yeah! Killing it! This looks like my kind of food! I rocked it, you guys. Cooking class was super fun. I'm ready to get in the water. So I'm going to go stand-up paddleboarding. So, I think that this ocean in Bali was the warmest water I've ever been in. I wasn't even scared of falling into the water when I was stand-up paddleboarding, which I am sometimes. Partially because it's like: "Oh, if I fall, "I will fall into glory." It's been an amazing time in Bali. I'm sitting in front of the ocean. I'm gonna finish off this day with some white-miso pot de creme, with green-tea crumbles on top. See these fireworks happening right now? This is the perfect end to my trip to Bali. This has been such an amazing ride, and thank you guys for joining me on this adventure.
