- In today's episode, we visit Barcelona and we prepare a Dry Martini. - [Sofi Narrating] Gaudi used to say that the architect of the future must imitate nature. As there are no straight lines or perfect angles in nature, buildings shouldn't have them either. I invite you to appreciate this wonder, modern architecture, "La Sagrada Familia, the most visited building in Barcelona. Another big hit of this city is "Casa Batllo". It was built between 1904 and 1906 in total harmony with nature. This is the most emblematic building of Gaudi and the main exponent of Catalan Modernism. Popularly knows as "La Pedrera" and also part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, Casa Mila was designed and built by Gaudi under the orders of Mr. Mila, wealthy lawyer. Visiting the terrace is an adventure. The chimneys seem like futuristic characters. If you believe that air ventilation systems are supposed to be only functional, welcome to the world of Gaudi. He had an innate sense of geometry and volume. In each piece, he combines functionality and design. Always inspired by nature, he grew up influenced by what nature provided. His father was alternative medicine believer, both for healing remedies and food. We walk along Park Guell where he lived between 1906 and 1925. Apparently, his favorite meals were green boiled juice with potatoes and one onion with olive oil and cabbage with potato covered in soft aioli. Gaudi was one of the fist ones to use a cooking method to avoid the steam to escape so vegetables kept their nutrients. - I'm arriving to The Dry Martini bar, one of the most exclusive places in Barcelona. Hi! - Hello! - How are you? - [Sofi Narrating] It's doors opened more than 30 years ago. It is the cocktail bar in Barcelona that became icon in the cocktail world. Dry Martini is one of the world's best 50 bars. The walls are covered in pictures as tribute to the classic cocktail. At the bar you may ask for Chinois Margaritas, Negronis, Whiskey Sour, and many more. But we came for the star of the place. - [Sofi Narrating] Here, cokctails are a celebrity. But, as it is not only a cocktail that the man leaves, Dry Martini has also a kitchen. And there we go, to prepare some Tapas and say goodbye to Barcelona the way it's deserved.
