People of Tamil Nadu celebrate new year on 14-Apr of every year. This is the month of Chitthirai, the first month of the Tamil solar calendar. Like every culture and like every festival in the world, we celebrate the day with elaborate meal. The dishes are made with the ingredients that are in season. For instance, I will be making sweet mango pachadi and neem flower rasam as a part of 28 course meal. This day is celebrated in most communities with neem flowers and raw green mangoes to symbolize growth and prosperity. In this pop-up dinner, you will seated with fresh banana leaves (that serve as plates on which we eat) in front of you in true Southern Indian style.
