Susanna OkNEW MAKER!

San Francisco, CA

Susanna Ok was born and raised in Hawai'i, where the island's multi-ethnic population easily fed her
natural curiosity in a diversity of subjects. When offered an academic scholarship to study in the
continental U.S., she left to attend Kenyon College in Ohio where she received a dual Bachelors degree in Psychology and Hispanic Gender Studies. Immediately after graduating, she joined the Peace Corps and was sent to Nicaragua where she spent two and a half years in the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security program. While there she developed a comprehensive bilingual manual (Spanish and English) detailing the practices of sustainable food security in rural communities. It has since been published by Peace Corps Nicaragua and is annually given to new incoming volunteers. Her career in San Francisco started in 2010 at the notorious Hapa Ramen while it was still a fledgling business. While there, she held occasional dinner pop-ups at the beloved Bar Tartine, a harbinger of things to come. Prior to joining Tartine, she was at The Battery SF where she was executive events chef for six years.
