Industry veterans and business partners Omri Aflalo, John Cahill, and Darrin Ballon are excited to announce their inaugural concept, Town Revival, to the downtown Oakland dining scene. The restaurant will focus on contemporary California cuisine with seasonal influence in a lively, service-focused environment. In a time when the hospitality world has been turned upside down, Aflalo, Ballon, and Cahill aim to deliver a dining experience that feels special, welcoming, and community-driven. Located at 1500 Broadway at the corners of 15th Street and Broadway, across from Oakland’s City Hall, Town Revival is set to open in the summer of 2021.

These three gentlemn have worked in kitchens all over the world, Aflalo, Ballon and Cahill have learned the importance of dedication to craft, continued education, and a positive work environment. As the current pandemic has clearly illuminated, the restaurant industry is in desperate need of change - one they hope to craft together, mentoring the next generation of hospitality professionals in both the front and back of house. “Over the last five years, I’ve realized how important it is to go to work everyday and be surrounded by people that are just as excited to be there as we are,” explains Cahill. “We want to create an environment where the next generation of hospitality professionals actually care and want to give back.” Aflalo, Cahill, and Ballon all live in Oakland and want to create business opportunities to give back, supporting organizations that work within the community to provide opportunity. “Growing up in Oakland, I was fortunate enough to have introductions to the hospitality industry and it made me who I am today,” says Ballon.

By creating an experience built on the team’s four core principles - Community, Cuisine, Sourcing, and Atmosphere - Town Revival will weave together Ballon’s commitment to the front-of-house experience with Chefs Aflalo and Cahill’s exemplary culinary backgrounds. The team’s storied careers in fine dining restaurants throughout the Bay Area and around the country have informed a desire to craft a warm, inviting atmosphere that is friendly and based on real connections. Ballon rose through the ranks at some of the Bay Area’s best restaurants, spending 10 years with Restaurant Gary Danko as Captain where he met Aflalo. Ballon left the award-winning restaurant to work under Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinsky at both The Progress and State Bird Provisions. An Oakland-native, Ballon is deeply entrenched in the Oakland community and sees solidifying Town Revival as a pillar of the community as imperative to the success of the restaurant
