5 reasons why puff pastry will be your new best friend in the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices prosciutto
  • 1 whole Brie round
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 4 tablespoons cranberry sauce
  • 1 egg, beaten

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Wrap Brie in the center of prosciutto.
  3. Place the Brie in the center of the puff pastry sheet.
  4. Put the cranberry sauce on top, then wrap up like a parcel with the surrounding pastry.
  5. Brush all over with the beaten egg and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
  6. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before cutting.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, cut in half
  • 3.5 ounces pesto
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan, grated
  • 1 egg, beaten

Steps

  1. Cover one of the puff pastries with the pesto, then sprinkle with most of the cheese.
  2. Press the second pastry on top and cut into strips.
  3. Twist each strip four times and transfer onto a lined baking tray.
  4. Brush with the beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan.
  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices ham
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 beaten egg

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Line a large baking tray with baking paper and set aside.
  3. Cut the pastry into 4 rectangles. Brush the center of each rectangle with Dijon mustard, then top with the ham slices and cheese slices.
  4. Fold each pastry up with a braid design and brush with beaten egg.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes and serve right away.

  • Cooked vegetables (peas, leeks, asparagus, etc.)
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 ounces cheddar, grated

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cut out circles of pasty and use to line 4 tart pans.
  3. Divide the cooked vegetables among the tins.
  4. Beat together the egg and cream and pour over each tart pan.
  5. Sprinkle with cheese, and bake for 15 minutes.

Puff Pastry-Wrapped Burgers

  • 4 burgers, uncooked
  • 4 slices cheese
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Burger Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon gherkins, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice from the jar
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Salt and pepper

Steps

Puff Pastry-Wrapped Burgers

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cut out 4 circles of puff pastry that are larger then the patties. Place a slice of cheese directly into the middle of the circle, then place the burger on top.
  3. Brush the surrounding pastry with beaten egg.
  4. Gather up the pastry around the burger patty and make sure it’s well sealed.
  5. Turn the burger upside down and place onto a lined baking sheet. Repeat with the other pastry circles, cheese and beef patties.
  6. Brush all over with the remaining egg and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.

Burger Sauce

  1. Make the dipping sauce by mixing all of the ingredients together in a small bowl.
  2. Serve each mini burger in a lettuce leaf, with a tomato slice on top, with a drizzle of burger sauce.
