This sweet, cinnamon-y crumble is so easy and so simple, it's like apple pie without the pie.

Apple Crisps

  • 6 apples, cored and thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon powder

  • Juice of one lemon

  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons salt

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted, separated

  • 3 cups granola

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine cinnamon, lemon juice, nutmeg, apples, salt, granulated sugar and 1/4 cup butter. Mix thoroughly and let marinate for 2 hours.

  2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine remaining melted butter, granola, graham crackers, flour and brown sugar. Stir and set aside.

  3. When apples are marinated, strain excess juice into granola mixture.

  4. In a large baking dish, arrange apples in an even layer. Press down if necessary to help even everything out.

  5. Place granola/graham cracker crust on top of pressed apples.

  6. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes, or until sides begin to bubble. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with ice cream!

- This right here is my go-to dish whenever anyone comes over and I have a party. So easy, so simple. It's like apple pie without the pie. All right, let's get started. First things first, we got our mise en place, all ready to go, then we're gonna start actually cutting the apples. The main thing you wanna do here is get rid of the stem. Skin is okay. The main point of this recipe is that you're making a quick apple pie without all of the hassle of the traditional apple pie thing that everyone kinda goes through. Once all the apples are done, we're gonna mix 'em. Let's get them in the bowl. And then, in a very quick marinade, we're gonna incorporate the following. Butter, sugar, more sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, it kinda helps all the reaction, gets everything going, and, of course, salt. Without making too much of a mess, Jordan. Once they're fully mixed, all the ingredients are kind of incorporated and coating all the apples, time to get crispy. So, take your granola, then, of course, graham crackers, flour, butter, now we're gonna mix this. All right, so now once the apples have marinated and we got our crisp top all ready to go, it's assembly time, baby, let's start. Apples have marinated, notice all the lovely juice. You have your pie dish thing, take all this, directly into the pie dish. Then your amazing crisp, top it off, and don't even be shy, pile that shit right on, okay? It's getting everywhere, it's okay. It's okay, the more mess the better here. Make sure all the apples are fully covered. We got this ready to go, we're gonna pop this baby in the oven and get this crispy. Apple crisp, ready to go. Warm, fuzzy, all the feels. This dessert is literally the best dessert of all time. So good, you have all the textures, you have the warm, fuzzy, homey feeling of the apple pie underneath with a dope-ass crust on top. And, of course, oh! Ice cream. Let's go, it doesn't matter, because I just wanna eat this. Okay, ready? Just get a nice little corner edge. Oh yeah, baby. So you don't have to worry about it being, coming like a perfect slice, 'cause now you can just get all the goodies and just throw it on top. You wanna have like, you know, it just depends, some people like one scoop, I like three to five, depending on how much ice cream I'm getting. Like a pint of ice cream should be good for myself. The best part is, as an adult, you can have as much as you want now. Mom, can I have this? No! Pfft! Later. Now I'm eating all this, right now. Six pack abs? No. F that. This is so amazing. And there you have it, apple pie, basically, with ice cream. But it's apple crisp, twice as good, half the work, half the time. And just, overall, amazing and warm and cuddly, I feel like my heart is being hugged right now.
