Ingredients

Blackened Salmon with Avocado Salsa

  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 6-oz. filets salmon
  • For the Avocado Salsa:
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 jalapeno, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp. cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt

Cajun Seasoning

  • 2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Steps

Blackened Salmon with Avocado Salsa

  1. Season the salmon liberally with the cajun seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the seasoned salmon to the hot pan, and cook until it becomes deeply golden brown and slightly blackened before flipping and repeating for the other side, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
  4. To make the avocado salsa, combine the avocados, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and sea salt in a mixing bowl until combined. Set aside.
  5. Top the salmon with the avocado salsa and serve.

  1. Combine the paprika, chili powder, cumin, sea salt, dried oregano, dried thyme, and garlic powder in a small mixing bowl.
