Blooming Flower Jellies

These intricate flower jellies are too pretty to eat!

Ingredients

Clear Jellies (makes 6):

  • 35g sugar
  • 20g agar powder
  • 500ml Yogurina (Clear Yogurt Water)

Colored Jellies

  • 150ml Calpis Water
  • 15g sugar
  • 7g gelatine
  • Food coloring (blue), as needed
  • Food coloring (yellow), as needed
  • Food coloring (purple), as needed
  • Food coloring (pink), as needed
  • Food coloring (green), as needed

Steps

Clear Jellies (makes 6):

  1. Combine agar powder and sugar for the Clear Jellies. Mix well.

Colored Jellies

  1. Submerge the gelatin for the Colored Jellies in ice water until softened and bloomed. Set aside.
  2. Add Yogurina to a small pot and heat.
  3. Bring to a boil and the mixture from step 2.
  4. Mix with a hand whisk for about 1 minute, then remove from heat once the sugar is melted.
  5. Add Calpis Water and sugar to a small pot and heat.
  6. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, add gelatine powder and mix until melted.
  7. Divide the mixture into 5 equal parts and add food colorings.
  8. Once the Clear Jelly mixture cools down, pour into a mold and let chill in the refrigerator until hardened.
  9. Scoop out the center of the clear jelly with a spoon and pour the colored jelly.
  10. Poke the jelly with straws or toothpicks to make flower petals.
  11. Let chill in the refrigerator until hardened.
