Brain Dip with Zombie Fingers

Scare up the fun with creepy matcha-topped marzipan zombie ladyfingers dipped in red velvet frosting brains.


  • For the dip:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups red velvet cake mix
  • 1/2 cup cherry pie filling, drained of liquid and slightly muddled (reserve liquid)
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons cherry pie liquid
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons whole milk
  • For the brain squiggles (frosting):
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring
  • For the witchy woman fingers:
  • 1 box store-bought ladyfinger cookies
  • Matcha green tea powder
  • 1 tube marzipan
  • Cashews, halved


  1. Make the dip: In a stand mixer, whip cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add red velvet cake mix and mix until smooth and creamy. Add pie liquid and whole milk to desired consistency.
  2. Place half of the mixture into a bowl or skull and form a well with the back of a spoon. Place muddled cherry pie filling in the well, then cover with remaining dip, making a dome/brain-like shape.
  3. Make the brain squiggles: In a stand mixer, combine all frosting ingredients and mix until smooth. Add food coloring to create a pink color.
  4. Using food coloring, paint 2 small streaks of red inside a piping bag. Carefully spoon frosting into bag and pipe brain squiggles onto the head.
  5. Make the witchy woman fingers: Using a small paring knife, cut ladyfingers slightly to look more like witch fingers. Combine a small amount of marzipan with matcha powder until green color is even. Cover top of cookies with matcha marzipan. Use a knife to create knuckle creases and add a cashew for a witchy finger nail. Dip fingers in the brain! Play with your food!
