- For an expert eater a buffet can be a delicious magical escape but for a newb that trip can quickly turn into an overwhelming journey. Follow me on a quest to the land of all you can eat as I show you how to buffet like a pro. Comfy clothing is key here and the stretchier the better. Look at my bottoms. They're made to look like jeans but they're actually made with spandex and denim, so . And before you head out to the restaurant go onto sites like Yelp and Instagram to see if they offer the types of foods you like and if they're known for cleanliness and freshness. Once you arrive at the buffet your server's probably gonna ask what you wanna drink even before you sit down. Skip the soda and just stick to water. Fizzy, sweet drinks are only gonna make you feel fuller, faster. Like this guy drinking soda. You already lost the game bro. Now you might be tempted to grab a plate and start piling on the food right away, but don't. Scout the area fully before you make any decisions. Aim for two different plates max. I usually do two plates but if you play the game right, you could have a third bonus round without feeling defeated. Avoid sneaky stomach fillers. These include dishes like rice, noodles, bread, salad. I mean, come on, salad. These are just ways to divert you from the main mission, which is to get the most out of your buck. Instead chose dishes that are being refilled and more frequently. If other diners go back for it that means it must be good. Score items that usually too expensive to eat on your dailys, like oysters, crab legs, meats, you know, the good . I'm so excited. This plate looks amazing. I've got a little bit of everything, some snow crab tempura, some ribs, shrimp, fish, all the types of sushi. Your first plate should contain just a little taste of everything that looked interesting that way you know exactly what you want on your second plate and you won't waste food. Bonus, if you're eating with other people use the opportunity to sample what they have on their plates if they like to share. Plate done. Onto number two. Not the one you dropped in the bathroom but if you to now's the time to go. Alright, second plate. So I got a little bit of what I liked in the first one and some new ones to try. Squirt, squirt, squirt. It's time for the sweet finish. I usually don't go for desserts after a meal but if your buffet's got a great dessert selection, go for it. Same rules apply here. Scout the dessert option, then go for the kill. Avoid anything jello 'cause kids love to poke it and I can't blame them it's jiggly. That's why I like to poke my own ass. I think the best strategy is to get shareable items that way you and your group can enjoy nice size bites together. And always, always end with a scoop of ice cream. Remember these cheat codes the next time you hit up a buffet and you my friend are gonna win at the game of life.
