Cactus Cookie Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter flavor Crisco
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cream together the Crisco, butter and sugar. Once combined, add molasses and eggs. Mix together until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl. Once fully incorporated use a measuring cup to add the dry mixture a cup at a time.
  4. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together, then knead to form dough. Wrap tightly and chill for at least one hour.
  5. To cut out the cookies, use flour and parchment paper. Working with small pieces of dough, dust the paper with flour and roll out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, then enjoy!
