Chicken Wings w/Orange, Apple, and Pineapple Sauce
In the words of Malik and his very own recipe creation, "that's some good chicken wings."
Ingredients
Wings
- 5 to 8 chicken wings
- Salt and pepper
- Oil, for frying
Sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 3/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 small apple, diced
- 1 orange
Steps
Wings
- Heat a fryer to 500 degrees, or fill a large pot halfway with oil and place on high heat.
- In a large bowl, season chicken wings with salt and pepper.
- Carefully place chicken in oil and fry until cooked, 6 to 8 minutes depending on size. Test to make sure chicken is cooked to 165 degrees. Once done, place on a draining rack to cool.
- Drizzle sauce over wings, toss and serve.
Sauce
- In a small sauce pot over medium-low heat, add water and sugar.
- Whisk until sugar has dissolved.
- Add garlic powder, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice and lemon juice.
- Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low and allow sauce to reduce for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Once reduced, allow to cool at room temperature and then place in the fridge to chill.
- Add diced apple to the sauce. Cut the orange in half, and scrape orange juice and pulp into syrup. Mix well.
