Chocolate Custard Bun

WATCH OUT! This dessert is exploding with fun! 💥

Ingredients

  • Custard cream:
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk, hot
  • Chocolate bun dough:
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • Chocolate for eyes

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, add egg yolks and sugar and whisk to combine. Add flour and mix gently. Stir in hot milk, then transfer to a pan over medium heat. Cook, while stirring, until it begins to thicken. Transfer to a mold and freeze.
  2. Combine all ingredients for chocolate dough. Transfer to a bowl and let it sit at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes. Mold into your desired shape.
  3. Place the frozen custard inside the molded dough, and steam for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Add chocolate eyes, and use a straw to poke a hole for the mouth.
