Christmas Fried Chicken Tower

Why buy a Christmas tree when you can make your own tasty fried chicken tower?


  • 3 chicken thighs
  • 50 grams flour
  • 70 grams potato starch
  • Oil for cooking
  • Marinade:
  • 50 milliliters soy sauce
  • 80 milliliters sake
  • 2 stubs ginger, grated
  • Decoration:
  • Mayonnaise
  • 50 grams lotus root, sliced
  • 1/3 steamed broccoli
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, cut into stars
  • 1/2 yellow bell pepper, cut into stars
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Lettuce


  1. Cut chicken into large bite-sized pieces and put into a large bowl.
  2. Add in soy sauce, sake and grated ginger and marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. Add in flour and potato starch and mix to combine.
  4. In a frying pan, arrange marinated chicken so that they aren't touching.
  5. Pour in oil until it just covers the chicken pieces.
  6. Heat to medium. Once it reaches 180 degrees C, turn chicken pieces over and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Drain chicken on paper towels.
  8. In the same oil, cook the lotus roots and bell peppers.
  9. Line serving platter with lettuce leaves and arrange fried chicken into a tower. Drizzle with mayonnaise. Then decorate with vegetables.
