Christmas Rilakumma Sushi

Even sushi deserves some holiday love.


  • 2 deep-fried tofu pouches (aburaage)
  • Sushi rice:
  • 250 grams cooked rice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Seasonings:
  • 150cc water
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 grams instant dashi
  • Face parts:
  • Nori
  • Sliced cheese
  • Imitation crab sticks
  • Decoration:
  • Red mini sausages
  • Chikuwa fish cake


  1. Combine cooked rice, rice vinegar and 1 teaspoon sugar. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Cut out face parts out of the nori, sliced cheese and imitation crab sticks.
  3. Flatten tofu pouches with a rolling pin and cut in half.
  4. In a saucepan, combine tofu pouches with seasonings.
  5. Place a piece of parchment paper on top and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Turn heat off and let the tofu pouches cool.
  7. Fill pouches with sushi rice, making sure to fill corners completely.
  8. Place stuffed tofu pouches on a serving platter.
  9. Place face parts onto the tofu pouches and decorate with additional ingredients.
