Crunchy Sweet Potato Tater Tots

Tater tot lovers rejoice and try this sweeter, crispier sweet potato version with a spicy greek yogurt dip to boot!

  • For the Sweet Potato Tots:
  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 tsp. cumin
  • For the Crispy Coating:
  • 4 cups baked sweet potato chips
  • 1 tsp. cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • For the Greek Yogurt Dip
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice

  1. Poke several holes in each sweet potato using a fork. Either bake in the oven at 400 degrees F for 1 hour or microwave for 8-10 minutes. Once cooked through, let cool enough to touch.
  2. Add the sweet potato chips into a food processor, followed by the cayenne, cinnamon, and sea salt.
  3. Pulse until the sweet potato chips are evenly broken down into small pieces, but not yet to a powder. Set aside.
  4. Add the peeled, cooked sweet potatoes to a large mixing bowl, followed by the cumin, and mash together.
  5. To form the sweet potato tots, grab about 1 tbsp. of the sweet potato mixture and form into into a tot shape using your fingers. If the mixture sticks too much to your hands, you can wet them with water, as needed.
  6. One at a time, add each tot to the crushed sweet potato chip mixture and gently toss to coat.
  7. Then, transfer to a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  8. Place into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, gently flipping them halfway through. Be careful to not allow the crust to burn.
  9. While the tots are baking, prepare the spicy greek yogurt dipping sauce for the tots. To do this, place all the ingredients for the sauce into a small mixing bowl, and stir to combine.
