Deep-Fried Shrimp With Homemade Tartar Sauce

What's not to love about a hearty shrimp fritter topped with an eggy cream sauce?

Ingredients

Deep-Fried Shrimp

  • 200 grams shrimp
  • 1/4 onion, minced
  • 3 stalks green onions, chopped
  • Oil for cooking
  • Flour
  • 1 egg, whisked
  • Panko
  • Seasoning: 3 tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 egg, 1 teaspoon sake

Tartar Sauce

  • 3 boiled eggs
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 gherkins, chopped
  • 5 grams butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Steps

Deep-Fried Shrimp

  1. Cut shrimp into small pieces. Combine with onions and green onions.
  2. Add in all seasoning ingredients and mix well with a spoon.
  3. Take a little bit of mixture into hands and form into a ball.
  4. Coat in flour, egg, and panko (in that order).
  5. Fry in hot oil (180 degrees C) until crispy and golden brown.

Tartar Sauce

  1. Coarsely mash the boiled eggs.
  2. Add in mayonnaise, gherkins, salt, pepper and butter and mix well.
  3. Serve tartar sauce with shrimp.
