Dessert Wontons

The beloved appetizer is even harder to resist as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • Jam
  • Cream cheese, cold
  • Wonton wrappers
  • Water
  • Canola oil
  • Melted chocolate, for dipping

Steps

  1. Spoon a small dollop of jam onto the center of a wonton wrapper.
  2. Place a small cube of cream cheese on top.
  3. Wet all 4 edges of the wonton wrapper and wrap the wrapper around the filling to look like a parcel, squeezing to seal them closed.
  4. Fill a pot with canola oil and set to medium heat. Once the oil is hot enough, you should be able to drop a small piece of wonton wrapper into the pot and have it sizzle and brown after about 1 minute.
  5. Place 3-4 wontons in the pot at a time, cooking until golden brown.
  6. Remove the wontons from the oil and place on a plate lined with paper towel to drain the excess oil.
  7. Serve with some melted chocolate as dipping sauce and enjoy!
