- Today I'm making paint from three common household items: flour, salt, and water. I know, I know, it sounds too good to be true, but look, it really works. And I'm gonna show you how to do that, too. Okay, so first we're going to mix our ingredients, and it's really complicated. You ready for this? Water, flour, and salt. Three ingredients, you guys, to make paint. Who knew? And I know you have all this stuff in your households right now. So I have my bowl, and I'm gonna go ahead and do that. So first, I'm going to put in the flour. And then, I'm going to do the salt. And then, the water. And I'm just going to give it a little mix with a spoon right now before we transfer it into our bags to color it. It looks like we're making a dough, but we're not. Set this here for now, and I'm going to add my color to my four zip-lock bags. So we have blue, just a couple of drops because it's super-concentrated. And then I have purple, pink, and green. Okay, so now I'm just gonna go ahead and transfer my mixture to the bags. Okay, now I'm just gonna seal each one and I'm going to use the zip-lock bag to actually mix it up with our color. So make sure it's sealed completely, otherwise you're gonna fling color everywhere. Okay, my friends, I have my paint. So now it's time to decorate. So today, we're decorating a terracotta pot. At this point you can use any painting method that you like. You could use a brush, you could splatter-paint. I've been researching a lot of drip-painting, so that's what we're gonna do today, and I feel like the consistency is perfect for it. And it's really simple, guys. All we're gonna do is snip a corner of it off and drip it all around. So I'm gonna start with pink. Yeah, and as you can see, it drips all the way around. I'm gonna save some of my pink, but why not purple next? It takes about two hours to dry, and as you can see, there's a really cool texture, I really like the way that drip-painting looks on this pot in particular, and I went ahead and did this actually for you guys to see. So as you can see, when it dries, it lightens up, and it has this real textured look to it. And I really love how it turned out. Such a simple hack! Who would've known that using three ingredients, you can whip up paint right here in your kitchen.
